Botvac D80 / D85 FAQ

How do I get the Botvac D7 to clean using No-Go Lines?

First, you need to have your Botvac D7 create a floor plan. Go to My Floor Plan, and follow the instructions to send your robot out to create a floor plan. Once the map is saved, you’ll be able to draw No-Go Lines on it. To clean with No-Go Lines, your robot vacuum must start from the charge base and you have to use the Neato app or schedule a cleaning in order for the robot to adhere to the No-Go Lines.

Is there “regular” maintenance required for the Botvac D7?

To keep you Botvac D7 running in tip-top shape you should do a few routine things. Use a Q-Tip to clean the drop sensors monthly. Remove the main brush and clean it off using the hair cutting tool monthly. Change filters every three months to maintain its effectiveness in trapping dust and allergens. Down the road, you’ll want to replace the main brush as well as the battery in order to get the best possible clean.

Can I select two zones for my Botvac D7 to clean?

Currently, you can only select one zone for your Botvac D7 to clean at a time. However, you might want to try using the scheduling function so that both areas get cleaned. For example, you can have the robot vacuum clean the kitchen at 9am and the master bedroom at 10am.

Can the Botvac D7 store a map for a two story home?

Yes, the Botvac D7 has the multiple floor plan feature and can store up to three floor plans in its memory. You can set up a set of custom No-Go Lines on each floor.

Does Botvac D7 work with Amazon Echo or Google Home?

Yes, you can use voice commands to start your Botvac D7 using Amazon Alexa on your Amazon Echo, as well as Google Assistant on your Google Home. However, if you want to use No-Go Lines, you must start your cleaning using the Neato app or schedule a cleaning.

What does the extra care navigation feature do on the Botvac D7?

Your Botvac D7 does its best to clean every inch of your floors. So it gets very close to walls or stationary object. With extra care navigation, your robot will be more carefully maneuvering around your delicate items.

Can I use the multiple devices to control my Botvac D7?

As long as you use the same account to sign into the Neato app on the other devices, you can use the same account. So, you can give access to any of your family members to start your Botvac D7.

What do I do with the magnetic strip that came with my Botvac D7?

The magnetic strip is a physical barrier. When taped to the floor, your Botvac D7 will not cross the magnetic strip. It can be useful when creating a floor plan for the first time so your robot does not get stuck on objects that may be lying on the ground. But once you have created a floor plan, you can use No-Go Lines instead of the magnetic strips in order to tell your robot where not to go.

Botvac D80 / D85 Reviews

Neato Botvac D85 is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Makes more mess than it cleans up My carpet is about 18 months old. The neato picks up the carpet and leaves tufts all over the house. After it has finished cleaning I have to pick up all the tufts. Added to this the brush keeps clogging up with carpet so I have to keep cleaning it. I come home expecting the cleaning to be completed but it isn't because it has stopped to have the brush cleaned. Or I will come home to find it stuck and I will have to move it to get it going. With the time I spend cleaning the brush and picking up carpet tufts I could vacuum with my ducted system in less time. It is a total waste of money and I would like a full refund.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meeting my expectations After trying several other brands and finding that they did not live up to what both the sales persons or the manufactures claimed. I was introduced to the NEATO Botvac 85, and could not be happier. As our home is a long one `Netty` so affectionately named, goes back to the base station (every time) and recharges when it's battery runs low then once recharged goes and starts off where it left off and completes the house. Yes there are quieter ones on the market but this noise is due to the powerful vacuum suction. As it is programmable (programmable for any day at different times) you can set it to do the floors when you are not home knowing it will do the whole house. I just love it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does its job The device is working and helping out in our 120m apartment. It manages to visit all the rooms and return back to its base station. I was a bit suprised that it has a NiMh battery instead of Lithium-ion. I hope the battery will last and don't suffer by incompleted charge cycles. Sometimes the Botvac gets stuck on our carpet. It isn't a tall carpet but it has a 'steeper' start..We couldn't yet determine why it sometimes works and sometimes not. All in all a great product, especially when having a dog. Great navigation and only little bumping into furniture. Great with multi-room apartment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better presentation than Irobot Those guys that make baseball fields with the straight lines in the cut remind me of the presentation of the Neato. The carpets have a cascade of lines where the robot vac has done it's work. Occasionally gets hung on a chair or in the closet or in the bathroom on the rugs. Use it exclusively for carpets and does a good job completing the assignment. Gets confused at times but eventually figures out how to get away. Software should quit beeping when you are moving the unit or emptying the bin but that is minor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SkyNet is here, and I let it clean my carpets This is a great product...I never thought I had a dirty house vacuuming it once a week, but the amount of dirt and hair it picks up says something different. I was amazed at way it gets itself out of hard spots, and how much better a job at corners and table legs it does than my wife (she agrees). Only issue is that it seems to give up too easily when stuck, and sometimes makes it to the base, but then stops just inches away from it. Otherwise, my first step into robot domination and I like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent but... The robot can clean my 160sqm without any help. He goes everywhere and is able to go back home without any problem. Bugs: The robot was block under a cupboard and do not stop. The carpet have now 2 holes where the wheels continues to roll and the robot have a deformation on the blue part. Once he closed himself the door and had to stop still someone open the door, quite funny situation. I will highly recommend this robot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good vacuuming power i bought this about 2 months back. I am happy with the way it cleans. However, it does seem to get stuck in certain areas because of the height. It extricates itself, but keeps on trying to go through this hurdle. So, you need to be at hand to clear its path. Another problem is that it does not detect the demarcation set up the magnetic tape. So in spite of the tape it will go into places that you know it will get stuck in.
