Yari D’areglia – Neatonian Spotlight of the Month

This monthly series spotlights an amazing member of the team here at Neato. We take a moment to get to know the people behind the scenes, the robots and the business. Let’s meet our NEATONIANS!

Yari D’areglia is our Senior iOS Developer based in Milan, Italy, being a loyal Neatonian for three years Yari has proven his dedication and expert skills ensuring Neato’s app is both user friendly and efficient leading to rave reviews of our products.

Here we learn a bit more about Yari from his heroes to what he would call his autobiography…

What’s your favourite word and least favourite word?
My favourite word would be ‘future’, because I love forward-thinking, not just regarding technology. My least favourite word would be ‘procrastinate’.

Who is your hero?
I would say Steve Jobs, but being that I’m an iOS developer I may be biased. I truly admire the way he created all of the things around Apple, however, this has been taken in a different direction today – which is unfortunate.

If you could throw any kind of party what would it be like and what would it be for?
Well us Italians love great wine and food, so my party would be focused around this. The Italian Neato office is also moving to a new location in Milan– a perfect opportunity to throw a party!

If you had to work on only one project for the next year, what would it be?
I would love to work on something around Virtual Reality, I recently used a VR Headset and feel the opportunities are countless. This doesn’t just mean video games (which is also a passion of mine) but other services too. I’m sure it’ll be exciting to work on a VR project.

If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
Hmmm if you’re stuck on an island, it would be a great opportunity to spend time understanding what’s really important to you. I would bring my wife (even though she is not a ‘thing’). Then I would choose my guitar and definitely sunscreen!

If you were to write a book about yourself, what would you name it?
I have no idea! ‘The Man Who Didn’t Know How To Name His Biography’ – would that work?

If your house was burning down, what is the one non-living thing you would save?
The back-up hard drives – nerdy stuff!

What three words describe you best?
Empathetic, touchy and stubborn.

What has been one of the highlights of your life?

I’d have to say writing my book would be up there ‘Learning iOS UI Development’ – I’m very proud of that.
